12th NWA Southwest Anniversary Show

January 11, 2010 Wrestling News No Comments

With slightly less than two months away the National Wrestling Alliance – Southwest’s (NWA-SW) 12th Anniversary Show Spectacular was announced today. It will be held in Robstown, Texas at the 2600-seat Central Pavilion of the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds on February 26, 2010. Bell-time will be 8 p.m.

The event is already taking shape impressively with two of NWA’s top Superstars signed in NWA World Heavyweight champion Blue Demon, Jr. and NWA 9-time Texas Heavyweight champion Kevin Northcutt.

The signing of Demon and Northcutt means the Anniversary Show will have two of the top 10 ranked NWA wrestlers under the same roof. Demon will be defending his NWA belt.

Demon needs no introductions. He has been a fighting World Champion all over the globe since winning the belt in Mexico City on October 25, 2008. He is the first Mexican and first masked luchador to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in its storied 62 years. He has the charisma and ring ability to put on incredible matches showcasing Lucha Libre style. He has wrestled with and against such top names as El Hijo del Santo, Mil Mascaras, Adam Pearce, LA Park, Oliver John, Mascara Sagrada, Charly Manson, Pisicosis II, Super Parka, and many more.

The 6-6, 255-pound Northcutt is arguably “Mr. NWA” of this decade. His resume includes being both a former TNA star and a 2-time NWA World Tag Team champion, 2-time National Champion, North American Tag Team champion, and current 9-time Texas Heavyweight champion. He has faced this decade such renown as Hernandez, Steve Corino, AJ Styles, Abyss, Raven, D-Lo Brown, One Man Gang, Erik Watts, X-Pac, Sandman, and many others.

“We wanted to go ahead and announce these signings right away,” said Ken Taylor, NWA-SW Commissioner. “We’re working hard to make this Anniversary Show a big success, and it starts by signing the best. Well be releasing more stars in the coming days.”

Taylor said the celebration will have live band music headed up by recording artist Hilda Lamas. “We’re adding live band music to further enhance an exceptional entertainment experience from the time the fan walks through the door to the final bell,” he added.

Tickets will be go on sale both online and phone ordering beginning January 4. Tickets are affordably priced at only $18 Ringside and $10 General Admission, and available at http://www.rmbfairgrounds.com, or phone 361-387-9000 or 361-387-9002.

There will be an early-bird buying discount of $3.00 off front row reserved seating starting January 4. This applies to ringside seating and will be in effect for a few weeks only.

Report: Major Details Behind Why WWE is Pushing New Talent

November 29, 2009 Wrestling News No Comments

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the reason why Kofi Kingston is getting such a big push right now is because WWE officials feel that the company needs an African-American baby face towards the top of the card. After several other talents that were selected for the spot didn’t work out the way the company had hoped, the decision was made to give Kingston the big push.

It’s also being reported that Jack Swagger’s push has been slowed down, and possibly even halted, as WWE officials feel that he is not panning out the way the company had hoped.

As far as Sheamus and Drew McIntyre are concerned, they are getting their respective pushes right now because Sheamus is the work out partner of Triple H, and McIntyre is well liked by both Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Details Behind Possible Main Events For WrestleMania 26

November 29, 2009 Wrestling News No Comments

PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE is considering The Undertaker vs John Cena at WrestleMania 26 because the company feels it needs to do something big and unique with The Undertaker at this year’s event. Obviously, The Dead Man doesn’t have many WrestleMania’s left in him, so WWE wants to make sure each Mania appearance is special.

Another rumored main event for the big PPV next year is Triple H vs Shawn Michaels. Although the two have wrestled against each other in the past, they have never done it at WrestleMania, so there has been discussion of booking that bout for the show.

At one point, WWE was planning on booking Rey Mysterio vs CM Punk for the show, but considering Mysterio’s current injury, it might not be possible.
